Village Hall receives Big Lottery Funding

Thursday 23rd January 2020 was a very big day for Harborough Magna.

Ian Bentlett andE lizabeth Biggs-Poyner on behalf of the village received a cheque from the Big Lottery for£353,753 to pay for the new community room from Hannah Asprey of the Big Lottery Community Fund. For the past five years Ian and Elizabeth have worked their socks off –with lots of support from many in the village - to get funding for this new community centre for Harborough Magna, Easenhall and the surrounding rural area. They were joined at the presentation by trustees of the Old School Community Room (OSC Registered charity no: 1185789 and children from the nursery school. There were also lots of villagers, who were delighted to see that work on the new building is really starting to take off. David Jones, who is now chairing OSCR, thanked Ian and Elizabeth for all their hard, hard work but reminded the village that fund-raising is still needed to complete the building and volunteers needed to use and run the community room to make sure it is a real success, fulfilling its promise to be a great benefit for the villages and our rural area.
